We'll continue this work tomorrow with the use of a venn diagram. Students will work together to complete number journal sheets for numbers 4 and 5 and then they'll use a venn diagram to compare properties of the two numbers as well as name properties that don't belong to either number.
As the study continues, students will study and compare 6 and 7 then 8, 9, and 10. As part of this study they'll graph the factor pairs for multiples up to 100 for each number on a coordinate grid and compare the way these numbers "grow" or "climb" on the graph.
Lastly, students will personify a number from 0-100. For the number, they'll do the following:
- Write an introduction about the number from the number's point of view.
- Tell about the number's properties in the introduction by answering the following questions:
- Is the number prime or composite?
- Is the number even or odd?
- Is the number a rational number?
- Is the number a single-digit, double-digit, or triple-digit number?
- What properties describe the number.
- Make an illustration of the number that shows a fact or truth about the number.
- Complete a number card that lists all the factor pairs and some multiples of the number as well as all the arrays for the number.
We'll hang these number cards up in the school for a reference point for our class as well as other students in the school.
