Today was a day of incredible share and growth.
The day started with a meeting where our team troubleshooted a teaching/learning issue. The share was quick since we only had thirty minutes, but it resulted in a strategy we put right into place that day--a strategy that served to improve a child's ability to access the curriculum. Many other strategies were shared during the meeting, strategies that helped us think about ways that we can change and develop communication, learning design, and classroom routines to better serve students.
Right after that, during our PLC, we continued our discussion about at-risk students with regard to math education. Again, many terrific ideas were shared as we looked for common themes. Some of the themes that arose from that conversation included sincere relationships, learning design, learning to learn mindsets and behaviors, and apt strategies and tools. My takeaway is that I want to work more closely with specialists as I design learning for all students so that we meet all students needs in holistic and responsive ways.
Later, at yet one more meeting, we discussed home-school communication and ways that we can develop efforts more to better serve families' needs for voice and choice when it comes to their children's efforts. This led to another exchange and one more way to support students and families.
The day's teaching gave us a chance to readily try out many of the strategies we discussed at all the meetings--strategies that worked well, and strategies I'll continue to think deeply about over the weekend as I prepare the week ahead.
When share is inclusive and led by good process and intent, the results are powerful with regard to our service to children. It's exciting to see our PLC and team exchanges grow and develop to reach that aim.
